Specifications
The first stage of the filter separator consists of a number of glass fibre coalescer/filter elements through which the wet gas passes. The small liquid drops carried in the gas stream are trapped within the glass fibres of the element and coalesce to form drops 100 to 200 times larger than the original size. These drops pass through the element wall and are carried forward by the gas stream to the second stage vane type separator.
The second stage consists of a vane type impingement separator, which operates exactly as described for vane separator.
Models
ABSOLUTE FILTER SEPARATOR:
Where higher operating efficiencies than those that can be achieved with the conventional Filter Separator are required, an Absolute Filter Separator is available. The Plenty Absolute Filter Separator will remove 100% of all droplets, 3 microns and larger. It will also, depending on design conditions, remove up to 99.9% of all solid particles 3 microns and larger. The performance of the absolute filter separator applies over the entire flow range from maximum design down to virtually zero flow.
With the Absolute Filter Separator, the first stage consists of a vane separator, which removes all droplets 8-10 micron in size. The second stage consists of glass fibre coalescer/filter elements, they are designed to handle the very fine droplets. These fine droplets are coalesced into large ones and appear on the downstream side of the elements but since the gas velocity through and the surrounding is low, re-entrainment cannot take place and the liquid drains away by gravity.
HORIZONTAL FILTER SEPARATOR:
The Plenty Horizontal Filter Separator is identical to the Vertical Filter Separator with regard to efficiency of particle and droplets removal and the two-stage gas filtration. The key differences are that being horizontal any large liquid droplets or slugs collect in the body before the gas enters the coalescing elements. The accumulated liquid flows to a separate liquid holding sump and the horizontal design also makes this a better choice for large pipe sizes as it avoids the need for walkways and other facilities to be provided.
LIQUID SEPARATOR:
The filters have multiple internal cartridges of different constructions with separation cartridges in the first stage and coalescing cartridges within the second stage. The internals are securely mounted on element mounting blocks with central tie rods. Access to the internals can be via bolted or Quick Release Cover. Cartridges can be manufactured from various materials depending on the filtration levels required.
